BRAINSTORMING WORKSHOP ON THE CREATION OF THE “MADE IN CÔTE D’IVOIRE” LABEL

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Handicrafts, Agence Côte d’Ivoire Export took part in the brainstorming workshop dedicated to the creation of the “Made in Côte d’Ivoire” label, a strategic initiative aiming to reinforce the promotion of Ivorian products and services and to increase their competitiveness on domestic and international markets.

This future national label aims to federate the different existing labels around a common brand, a symbol of quality, traceability and Ivorian origin.

During the work held in the presence of Dr Kaladji FADIGA, Director of Agence Côte d’Ivoire Export, the participants examined and enriched several structuring documents, notably the regulations for the use of the collective trademark “Made in Côte d’Ivoire”, the specifications, the control plan, the governance mechanisms of the label as well as the promotional strategy for Ivorian products registered as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) and a Collective Trademark.

The exchanges also made it possible to collect the observations of the different stakeholders with a view to consolidating the technical documents and preparing the next steps of the institutional adoption process.

Through this initiative, the Ivorian Government intends to equip Côte d’Ivoire with a valuation tool capable of reinforcing consumer confidence, promoting national know-how, encouraging local consumption and supporting the development of exports.

The workshop thus marks a major step towards the operationalisation of the “Made in Côte d’Ivoire” label, called to become a strategic lever for economic promotion and the influence of Ivorian know-how.
