In September 2025, Cameroonian exports to Germany reached €32.6 million compared to €18 million in imports, generating a surplus of €14.6 million. Intra-regional Trade: AfCFTA Significantly Boosts Tanzania’s Export Revenue

In 2024, Tanzania recorded a 40% increase in its export revenues to African markets, reaching $3.94 billion, primarily thanks to the AfCFTA, which opened new outlets in countries such as Nigeria, Morocco, Ghana, and Senegal. This performance was driven by exports of agricultural and industrial products (coffee, tobacco, cereals, spices, sisal fibers, glass). Exports to the European Union rose from $633.5 million USD in 2023 to $686.3 million USD in 2024, while revenues from Asia fell slightly to $2.84 billion USD compared to $2.92 billion USD in 2023, dominated by cashew nuts, cotton, and agricultural products. The government has launched a national implementation strategy for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and is preparing a national export strategy focused on youth, while accelerating the digitalization and formalization of businesses via online platforms for creating and managing economic activities.

AfCFTA: Togo Adopts its Second National Implementation Strategy for 2026-2030

With the support of the ECA, Togo launched from December 18 to 19, 2025, the revision and validation of its second national implementation strategy for the AfCFTA for the 2026-2030 period, at the initiative of the Ministry of Commerce. This new phase follows the 2019-2024 strategy, which led to notable progress in trade facilitation, export capacity building, competitiveness, and the promotion of women’s entrepreneurship. The revision is based on a mid-term evaluation incorporating new challenges, including international trade tensions and sustainable development financing constraints. Following public-private consultations, a revised strategic document accompanied by a budgeted priority action plan will be adopted, making Togo the first African country to engage in a second-generation national AfCFTA strategy.
