This Tuesday, 6 October 2026, Agence Côte d’Ivoire Export and the Groupement Représentatif de l’Indication Géographique Protégée (GR-IGP) Attiéké des Lagunes, represented by Mrs NEBAVI BLAISE BADJO, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, signed a framework support agreement. The objective is to help the sector conquer new markets using a PGI label that guarantees origin and expertise.
The meeting was held in the presence of Mr Granger K. Richmond, Executive from the Grands-Ponts Region, accompanied by his delegation, as well as the representative of Mr Kamara Horouna, representing the Director General of the Office Ivoirien de la Propriété Intellectuelle (OIPI).
Present across three main production zones—Abidjan, Dabou, and Grand-Lahou—the Group brings together a network of more than 16,700 women, making this sector a major driver for value creation, economic empowerment, and regional development.
In practical terms, the Agency is providing the Group with support tailored to field realities:
Institutional support and advisory services to structure the sector’s export approach;
Export-related information to better understand the requirements of targeted markets;
Capacity building to ensure stakeholders are export-ready;
Guidance towards promising markets for Attiéké des Lagunes;
Matchmaking with business and other partners;
Invitations to trade fairs and commercial events to showcase the product to buyers;
Promotion of the “Attiéké des Lagunes PGI” label, both in Côte d’Ivoire and internationally.
“This support illustrates the role of our agency: to structure our ecosystem and add value to our resources in order to demonstrate that Côte d’Ivoire produces, processes, and exports. With the PGI label, Attiéké des Lagunes becomes a guarantee of origin and quality, as well as a true ambassador for ‘Made in Côte d’Ivoire’ internationally,” emphasised Dr Kaladji FADIGA, Director General of Côte d’Ivoire Export.
For its part, the GR-IGP Attiéké des Lagunes undertakes to actively engage in the planned actions, to encourage its members to adhere to the best practices outlined in the product specifications, and to continue promoting Attiéké des Lagunes. As noted by Mrs NEBAVI BLAISE BADJO: “We are delighted to sign this partnership with Agence Côte d’Ivoire Export.
It proves that Ivorian expertise is a mark of quality, and that with the right support, our attiéké can open up new international opportunities.”
Concluded for a duration of three years, this agreement marks the beginning of a joint effort to turn Attiéké des Lagunes into an Ivorian product recognized far beyond our borders.
